As the 3d title says...
wozzup to spherewiki? seems the site is no longer avaiable =O

naz, perhaps can you host it on scriptsharing?
nazghul-ll
without the content?

Currently it's running at Furio's site, AFAIK, and as it looks that server has some problems/was freshly (re)installed.

No idea what happened, or how to contact Furio. Sad, but fact

It noticed it last night, but was hoping it was a temporary issue. Sadly I woke up a couple hours later to find it is still gone.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! Why the wikiiiiiiii
I hope khaos got the PDF, there's an half-spanish wiki online still, the compedium. We're not that bad.
Crusader
actually, i make a rar file where i put almost all the offline pages of spherewiki, obtained through the google cache.

And now you can take it here:

http://atlantide.igz.it/downloads/spherewiki.rar

ShiryuX
Yeah, now I check it:

I'll be setting up a wiki in this time, if someone wants to help, you're welcome.

Shiryux can you post the page direction of that "half spanish" wiki??

Thanks

*pokes his head out of the mysterious void*

I can setup a wiki if we need to. Of course, gonna have to give me some time, but it is doable.

*disappears again*

Don't worry, I got host already, and is already up. Just need to fill the pages.
MrSugarCube
Torfo is already prepared to host the wiki, but we're attempting to retrieve a copy of the data to avoid having to start over again.

Crius is running the [currently unavailable] SphereWiki, although we've not had much luck so far in trying to contact him to get the content transferred over to Torfo's site. For now the posted links above should be enough to keep you going for now until we can get the proper wiki sorted. smile.gif

If anyone has a speedier and more reliable method of contacting Crius then that may be somewhat useful for getting the wiki back up and running sooner. smile.gif

Wiccanian
I thought Torfo was already running it ohmy.gif

He never even got the files?
MrSugarCube
I thought Torfo was hosting it too, but it seems that Crius didn't get around to sending over the files.

push come to shove we can repopulate the content from google cache.
ShiryuX
If someone cares: http://auo.alendra.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
Is the same idea, just a little reorganized (check the order of the main page and the Triggers section).
If you someone want to contribute, there it is. Or tell me if we should wait until Torfo gets the files from Crius.
MrSugarCube
You probably don't want to do that quite yet. smile.gif
Damian
I can host it if need be, would be nice to get the database if so.

I will be honest and say that without the Wiki Sphere is as good as dead. Because sphere scripting is custom it's already something that deturs more experienced developers from sphere and toward RunUO. (for those of you who are unaware RunUO can use VB.net and C# scripting. I even believe there is a way to do it in C++.)

The point is that it's been significantly too long that we have had the Wiki down. I personally am tired of hoping that someone with the institutional knowledge of the scripts is online the forums when I am trying to write.
Soulless
i would not really consider sphere as 'good as dead' without the wiki. we have forums with previous posts on just about every function or keyword you can imagene, and the revisions log also has detailed explanations of functions and other additions.

spherewiki was a good resource, but its not the end of the emulator because it went down.

that being said, spherewiki was invaluable, people witht he proper hosting capabilities should work towards getting the site online again.

Sphere will die without up to date documentation. This needn't be a wiki, in fact I never relied on just the wiki by itself, but we need something. As far as RunUO drawing more experienced people, I don't think it's a clear cut as that. If you know VB or C# you can probably write Sphere code without too much trouble. Even unrelated modern languages share most of the same concepts and Sphere script has helped me with C++ and Java and vice versa, coding is coding. Sphere code is optimized for easy customization of the UO enviroment, it may not be as flexible as RunUO but there is very little it cannot do and mostly it can do it fairly easily. RunUO's entire community and script set seem based around copying EA's Ultima Online, which is about the last thing I want to do. RunUO has it's niche, we have ours.
Torfo
Count 1 and 1 together on what MrSugarCube said and wait until he says something again smile.gif

SphereWiki is now up and running on a new host. See the announcement for more information.
